The hidden secrets for a successful party

Genius is 1 % inspiration and 99% perspiration

Making a resolution for the New Year is one of the easiest thing to do. The hard part is to put in efforts to bring them to fruition. All of us have this experience year after year. We take a resolve to make a change in our lives and we undertake it with all seriousness and sincerity. Yet even before a week is out, the resolve starts dissolving away like the fragrance of the incense sticks. It is good while it lasts but…..

What is the reason of this almost universal phenomenon? Are resolves to be made only to be broken? Or is it a tradition to make resolves and then let them fritter away?

It boils down to the mind management and the secrets and mysteries of the mind and its control. It is indeed not easy to master the mind. Perhaps that is why Kabirdas famously declared –

मैं तो उन संतन का दास जिनने मन को मार लिया।

While speaking about Yoga and Mind Management, Paramahamsa Swami Satyananda often used to say that the mind is very powerful. It is like an wild, untamed elephant. One cannot hope to tame the elephant by brute force. It will just toss us away or crush us underneath its feet. The only way to manage mind is to befriend it. Once befriended, the mind can be harnessed to achieve almost anything.
