The run-up to the new year is an exciting time. We are completing one cycle and entering the next. The New Year Eve marks the transition from one phase into another. Transitions are crucial moments. A properly prepared transition allows us to optimise the shift we are undergoing and utilise this change for making a progression in our lives.

The Swagatam 2022 workshop is a fun-filled means to ring out the old year and ring in the new year using yogic principles yet maintaining the party mood!!

The theme of this workshop is derived from the famous poem of Sir Alfred Tennyson – Ring out Wild bells:

Excerpts:

Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring out the false, ring in the true.
Ring in redress to all mankind.
Ring in the nobler modes of life,
Ring in the love of truth and right,
Ring in the valiant man and free,
The larger heart, the kindlier hand.

One may ask:

Ring out, ring out, pray tell me how,
to practice all this here and now.

Let us reply:

Ring in, ring in, listen, this is how,
to bring in the change in you,
Practice Living Yoga and that is how,
To ring out the false and ring in the true.

Swagatam 2022 Aradhana – a virtual gathering of yoga enthusiasts who have gathered from different parts of the world with one purpose, ‘to bid adieu to 2021 and welcome 2022. We shall soon know how yoga aspirants bid adieu to 2021 and welcome 2022.

Do yoga aspirants join the majority who would bid adieu saying – ‘2021 was an entirely forgettable year; 2020 was worse but 2021 was almost just as bad. Thank God, it is over. Lets hope 2022 is better.’ ? How does a yoga aspirant bid adieu to the fading year and welcome the new year?

The yoga aspirant and the yoga sadhak have a great responsibility on their shoulders. They have to be like a beacon of hope to others in these trying and difficult times. What should be the outlook of a yoga aspirant? The Yoga aspirant sings –

करो रक्षा विपत्ति से, न ऐसी प्रार्थना मेरी |

विपत से भय नहीं पाऊँ, प्रभु यह प्रार्थना मेरी || १ ||

O Lord, I pray not for protection from hardships and difficulties. Rather, I pray for deliverance from fear of these difficulties and for strength and fortitude so that I may learn to overcome them and grow.

Gurudev Swami Satyananda proclaimed many decades ago – “Yoga will emerge as a powerful world culture and it will change the course of world events”.

The time has come for the yoga aspirants to rise to the occasion for the times are tough and situation bleak. One needs to tap into one’s latent infinite strength to change the course of events. That is the gauntlet which COVID has thrown to the yoga aspirants – How to usher in a new dawn to this gloom? How to bring back the smiles to our lips and hearts?

The first session of Swagatam 2022 helps us analyse, understand and introspect. This will work as the first step towards the acclaimed SWAN meditation, given by Swami Niranjananandaji, the Paramacharya of Bihar School of Yoga.

  • What is my Strength
  • What is my Weak point
  • What is my Ambition?

What is my requirement, my Need

The Swan is known for its grace, poise and beauty. This mediation helps us to transform from cranes or herons to graceful swans.

The year is ending, dying. Let us invoke the transformative energy of Siva so that this ending can bring in a new transformation within us.

The year-end is known for being THE party time of the year. Music is the nourishment of the soul and it is the heart of any party. How can even a yogic party be different? The joy of this party is very intoxicating and the best part is that there is no hangover either!!
